Discovering Argentum Apothecary

Today I'm telling you all about Argentum Apothecary, and more precisely their La Potion Infinie!

Since it's the first time we're talking about Argentum Apothecary on the blog, and you might have never even heard about it, I'll tell you a bit more about the brand.

The founder and creator is Joy Isaacs, born and raised in South-Africa. Joy's mother used colloidal silver for all kinds of uses: treating acne, scratches, burns and preventing infections. After surgery in 2010, she rediscovered colloidal silver and shared this with co-founder Stephanie Thierry: Argentum Apothecary was born!

Of course this is a very, very brief summary, the full story can be read here. I have read every single page on their website, just because it's such an intriguing brand and product.

About the packaging.
I really like the packaging. It's minimalistic and looks very sophisticated. The box is black cardboard with a ocean print inside. The jar has that same minimalistic style, fully black with the logo on top. The jar is made from a heavy and sturdy kind of glass. This dark glass also protects the cream against heat and sunlight.

What is La Potion Infinie?
La Potion Infinie is a 99.5% from natural origins, hydrating, restorative, anti-age cream. After many years of research in the field of anti-ageing Argentum Apothecary has formulated a patented fusion of two vital ingredients: Silver Hydrosol & DNA HP. La Potion Infinies unique synthesis of powerful active ingredients will have a profound effect on your skin, resulting in an all-encompassing treatment of wrinkles, facial blemishes and oxidative stress.

The DNA HP was the biggest mystery for me, what is it?
Good to know is that the DNA HP is derived from salmond's milt. I personally really hoped it would be from plants (found something like that on the internet), but it's salmon's milt. Stephanie Thierry, one of the founders, told me that no animal is harmed because the salmons release this in the water. I don't really know how that works, but let's just take their word on it.
'It works by trapping a toxic radical, namely hydroxyl, which is highly reactive to biomolecules such as collagen and elastin causing their oxidation and degradation. Additionally, its structure is such that it can penetrate intercellular space, thus promoting and increasing skin hydration by carrying 10,000 times its weight in water. This is unlike any other hydration product, which simply attempts to ‘trap’ water in the skin.'

The ingredients are all on the box, mostly oils and natural ingredients. Caffeine, silver hydrosol and DNA HP are the three most important ones.

My experience has been quite good with this cream! From the first application I already felt the firming and tightening effects (caffeine). My skin also felt very soft. What I personally also love about it is that it's safe to use around the eyes.

The cream itself is very fluid, lotion-like. It feels light, absolutely not greasy and hydrates without a shine. You can use it two times a day, but I usually used it once a day, at morning.

Oh, another thing: it smells great. It has a very specific scent: notes of orange, bergamot, rosewood, geranium, sandalwood, and patchouli. It smells herbal and clean, a nice scent that isn't 'too much'.

Argentum Apothecary - La Potion Infinie (€173)

There is a price card attached to this piece of luxury. It's definitely not cheap, but La Mer, Sisley or Chanel aren't any cheaper. If you'd like to try it, but you're not really sure because it's quite expensive, good news! You can also request a sample to try it out yourself!

Do you spend a lot of money on skincare?

Love, Rani
